Overview
Some wonder why a page needs to be devoted to the color of the Maltese breed, as it is widely believed that this dog can only be found in pure, solid white.
However, purebred Maltese dogs can actually hold other colors as well. Pure, snow white is the preferred color. There are also 2 other colors that can fall on the coat:
Light tan
Lemon (which is a very soft yellowing)
In AKC show, this light tan or lemon is permissible when found on the ears, however as stated above, pure white is what judges are looking for.
